20 Oct Sponsor 2020 virtual Marine Money Greek Ship Finance Forum
Marine Money hosted our 2020 virtual Marine Money Greek Ship Finance Forum on 6th October 2020. From your homes or offices you were able to tune in to hear some of Greece’s largest owners and financiers discuss pressing issues guiding market direction and investment decision making.
The takeaways throughout the four sessions of our Marine Money Greek 2020 virtual event were really two.
One on the demand side where the message was that shipping is currently operating against a background of concerning global economic growth and reduced consumer demand but with some recovery hopeful in 2021 and beyond.
And one on the supply side where newbuild ordering is very slow and there is unlikely to be clarity in terms of new fuels and propulsion for several years thus preventing owners from making aggressive investment decisions. Putting the two together the short term looks rough but the medium term with growing demand and stagnant fleet growth looks better.
Finance is available from the conventional banks and non-banks but new relations are difficult because COVID 19 is preventing business trips and meetings, and existing relationships are seeing covenants tightened and pricing nudging up.

We hope to see you next year at our 23rd Annual Marine Money Greek Ship Finance Forum on 12 October 2021 – hopefully at the Hilton Athens.
