Vernicos Group of Companies is one of the oldest existing maritime enterprises in Greece. It was founded in Constantinople in the mid 19th century under the name “BOSPHORUS” by Emmanuel N. Vernicos (1835-1915) who was born on the Island of Sifnos in the Cyclades. Its first activity was to transport people and petroleum barrels from one side of Bosphorus to the other with rowing and sailing boats

The Company is managed by the Vernicos and Visco families, operating a fleet of modern, high quality tugs. Our fleet is able to provide towage, salvage and pollution control services on a continuous 24/7 basis, with the shortest possible response time focusing to detail, safety and excellence.

OUR FLEET

VERNICOS SCAFI GROUP

The first half of 2019, a joint venture between Vernicos and Scafi Società di Navigazione S.p.A of Italy was signed.

 

This joint venture came after the decision of the Italian Group to invest in the Greek company, which resulted in a new company renamed Vernicos Scafi, operating mainly in Piraeus area, but also active in Thessaloniki, as well as in other Greek ports (Lavrion, Mykonos) and Saudi Arabia.

Scafi Società di Navigazione S.p.A. was founded in 1955 by Salvatore Cafiero and today is among the leading Italian companies in harbor towage. It offers specific and tailored services for ports and terminals of various kind, including containers, LNG and Oil & gas. Scafi Group owns over 30 modern tugs
